Vegetation Fire - City of Brisbane

On September 1, 2024 at 2:22 p.m., 7 Fire Companies, 3 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a reported vegetation fire on the west side of Bayshore Boulevard, approximately 600 feet south of Main Street in the City of Brisbane.

The first arriving fire company found smoke and flames burning within grass and brush on the hillside at a slow rate of spread. Using hose lines firefighters made access from Bayshore Blvd. working up the hill to contain and extinguish the fire, limiting it to approximately two acres.

Fire companies remained on scene for approximately three hours completing overhaul, controlling hot spots and ensuring total extinguishment. No structures were threatened and there were no injuries to any firefighters or civilians.

The fire was investigated by the North County Fire Authority, Fire Prevention Division, Investigations Section and determined it was human caused from cooking within an unattended unhoused encampment.

The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of cutting and removing all dry grass and flammable vegetation around their homes and businesses.
