Structure Fire in Pacifica

On April 9, 2018, at 07:02 p.m., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers, and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 420 Old County Road in the City of Pacifica.

The first arriving fire company saw nothing from the street view until firefighters approached the targeted unit. Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the front door side of an apartment unit #3. Firefighters forced entry to the front door and using fire service hose lines extinguished the fire and contained it to the left side portion of the living area of the unit resulting in less significant fire damage within the area of origin. Simultaneously, other firefighters went through all adjacent units for a search and rescue. During search and rescue operation, it was determined there were no victims trapped or needing help.

Fire companies remained on scene for over one and a half hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul and mop up operations. The fire displaced one senior veteran resident, which was provided housing assistance through the American Red Cross.  There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.

The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
