Residential Structure Fire - City of Pacifica

On June 17, 2024, at 11:43 a.m., 6 Fire Companies, 1 Chief Officer, and 2 Fire Investigators responded to a residential structure fire at 615 Hickey Blvd. in the City of Pacifica.

The first arriving fire company found smoke and fire coming from the exterior right side of a single-family residence. Firefighters made a search and rescue operations throughout the home but found no occupants. Simultaneously using hose lines firefighters were able knock the fire down and exposures. The residents were able to evacuate safely with no injuries.

The incident caused moderate fire and smoke damage sustained to the exterior of the home, residents were able to remain at the single-family home.

Fire companies remained on scene for over two hours checking for fire extension, while also conducting salvage and overhaul operations. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental due to discarded barbecue coals discarded into a plastic garbage bin. There were no injuries to firefighters.

North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of barbecue safety: The grill should be placed well away from the home, deck railings and out from under eaves and overhanging branches. And when you are finished grilling, let the coals completely cool before disposing in a metal container. Lastly enjoy your summer grilling and be safe.
