Residential Structure Fire - City of Pacifica

On May 16, 2026, at 5:20 pm, 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers, and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a residential structure fire at 665 Southmoor Drive, in the City of Pacifica.

The first arriving fire company found light smoke inside of the residence and quickly located the fire in the attached garage of a two-story single-family home, with heavy smoke and moderate flames visible. All residents and one dog had safely evacuated prior to the arrival of North County Fire Authority personnel. Firefighters made entry into the garage with hose lines, quickly knocking down the fire, and prevented it from spreading to the remainder of the home.

The incident caused moderate fire damage to the residential structure. A total of 3 people were displaced and have made arrangements for temporary housing at this time.

Fire companies remained on scene for two hours checking for fire extension, while also conducting salvage and overhaul operations. There were no injuries to firefighters or other members of the public.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental and due to an electrical dehumidifier, that was continuously plugged in and running at all hours with several combustible materials around it.

North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone to regularly inspect and properly maintain electrical equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
