Residential Structure Fire - City of Pacifica

On March 13, 2026, at 8:45 a.m., 6 Fire Companies and 2 Chief Officers responded to a residential structure fire at 720 Big Bend Dr. in the City of Pacifica.

The first arriving fire company found moderate smoke coming from the garage of a single-family residence. Firefighters made entry and began search and rescue operations throughout the structure while simultaneously using hose lines to completely extinguish the fire. Firefighters determined all occupants had safely evacuated.

The incident caused moderate fire and smoke damage to the structure and contents within the garage.

Fire companies remained on scene for over two hours checking for fire extension, while also conducting salvage and overhaul operations. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental and due to a build-up of dryer lint in and around the dryer in the garage. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.

The North County Fire Authority reminds residents to keep dryer lint traps and exhaust vents clean and free of debris. According to the National Fire Protection Association, U.S. fire departments respond to nearly 16,000 home fires each year involving dryers and washing machines, with lint buildup being a leading cause.
