Residential Structure Fire - City of Pacifica

On October 19, 2024, at 9:20 a.m.., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers, and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a residential structure fire at 600 Waverly Place, in the City of Pacifica.

The first arriving fire company found heavy fire coming from the rear of a single story, single family dwelling. Firefighters made entry and began search and rescue operations, while simultaneously using hose lines to knock the fire down prevent fire spread. All occupants and their three dogs had evacuated safely. There were no injuries to citizens or firefighters. Firefighters remained on scene for over two and a half hours checking for extension and conducting overhaul operations. The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the incident was determined to be accidental and the result of discarded smoking materials igniting available combustibles on a rear wood deck.

North County Fire Authority encourages residents to properly discard smoking materials in a non-combustible container and place away from other combustibles.
