Residential Structure Fire - City of Daly City

On March 5, 2026, at 7:27 a.m., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers, and 2 Fire Investigators responded to a residential structure fire at 247 Belhaven Avenue in the City of Daly City.

The first arriving fire company found thick black smoke coming from the front and rear of a two-story, single-family home. Using hose lines, firefighters made entry into the home and found smoke and flames coming from a rear bedroom. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire while simultaneously performing search and rescue operations. No occupants were found or in need of rescue and the fire was contained to the rear bedroom and hallway, with extensive smoke damage throughout the rest of the home.

Fire companies remained on scene for over two hours checking for fire extension and completing salvage and overhaul operations. Four residents and two dogs were displaced by the fire. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters or residents.

Fire investigators determined the fire started in the rear bedroom due to a portable space heater igniting nearby bedding materials.

The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of keeping portable space heaters away from combustibles and installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
