Hazardous Materials Response - City of Brisbane

On February 10, 2025, at 2:19 p.m., 3 Fire Companies, 1 Chief Officer and 1 hazardous materials response unit responded to a hazardous materials response at 1 Solano Street, at Lipman Middle School in the City of Brisbane.

The first arriving fire company found a 5-gallon bucket of an unknown substance that had been kicked over near the tennis courts, giving off a chemical type smell. Students and staff at the school were required to stay indoors and to shelter in place. Students were allowed to leave the school at dismissal time, but were required to use an alternate route, away from the incident.

Hazardous materials response team firefighters were able to analyze the liquid substance and determined it to be an ignitable liquid, but non-hazardous.

Fire companies remained on scene for over four hours to safely assess the incident and clean up the material. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters.
