Cliff Rescue - City of Pacifica

On July 17, 2025, at 7:46 a.m., 4 Fire Companies, 1 Fire Rescue Unit, 2 Chief Officers and 1 Hoist Rescue Helicopter responded for a vehicle over the edge cliff rescue in the area of Monterey Avenue at Manor Drive in the City of Pacifica.

Responding fire companies discovered a vehicle that had gone over a cliff and landed approximately 200 yards below in the area of Monterey Avenue at Manor Drive in the City of Pacifica. Firefighters and firefighter paramedics implemented a high angle rope rescue operation and made contact with the only patient and adult male driver. Utilizing a hoist helicopter dispatched and on scene firefighters were able successfully and safely rescue and hoist the patient from the base of the cliff to awaiting firefighter paramedics and transport ambulance at the scene.

Firefighter paramedics provided patient treatment and care at scene and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There were no injuries to emergency personnel or other civilians and the incident was mitigated in approximately 90 minutes.

The incident is under investigation by the City of Pacifica Police Department
