Cliff Rescue - City of Pacifica

On May 31, 2024 at 6:38 p.m., 3 Fire Companies, 1 Rescue Unit, 1 Chief Officer and 1 CHP helicopter responded for a cliff rescue in the area of Esplanade Avenue at Manor Drive in the City of Pacifica.

Responding firefighters discovered one adult male who had fallen onto the beach rocks below an 80-foot cliff in the area of Esplanade Beach. As firefighters were setting up for a high angle rope rescue operation, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) helicopter arrived on scene and was able to successfully and safely rescue the patient from the base of the cliff and transport to awaiting firefighter paramedics at the scene.

Firefighter paramedics provided treatment at scene to the patient who was then transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There were no injuries to emergency personnel.

The incident was mitigated in approximately one and a half hours.
