Cliff Rescue - City of Daly City

On August 19, 2026 at 4:11 p.m., 3 Fire Companies, 1 Rescue Unit, 1 Chief Officer and 1 CHP helicopter responded to a cliff rescue below 50 Northridge Drive, in the City of Daly City.

Responding firefighters discovered an adult male paraglider who had collided into the cliff and was stranded several hundred feet below the surface. A California Highway Patrol (CHP) helicopter was requested. Utilizing an NCFA helicopter rescue technician (HRT), the helicopter safely rescued the victim from the cliff and transported him to awaiting firefighter paramedics at the scene.

Firefighter paramedics provided initial treatment to the patient, who was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital with moderate injuries. There were no injuries to emergency personnel.

The incident was mitigated in approximately one and a half hours.
