North County Fire Authority Launches “PREPARE” Public Safety Initiative for Brisbane, Daly City, and Pacifica

San Mateo County, Calif. — North County Fire Authority (NCFA) announces the launch of its newest public safety initiative: PREPARE Brisbane, PREPARE Daly City, and PREPARE Pacifica.

The PREPARE campaign is designed to provide every resident, family, and business with the tools they need to prepare for an emergency, enabling them to better react when one occurs. The initiative aligns with NCFA’s mission: Be Kind. Always Prepared. Care for Others.

“Preparedness is not just about having supplies on hand—it’s about making decisions today that can save lives tomorrow,” said Fire Chief Ron D. Myers. “A Go Bag, a family plan, and signing up for alerts are simple actions that mean everything when seconds matter.”

At northcountyfire.gov/how-to-prepare, residents will find step-by-step instructions on:

• Knowing Your Zone: Sign up with Genasys Protect to receive emergency alerts based on your location.
• Registering for SMC Alerts: Stay informed about countywide emergencies via text, email, or voicemail.
• Packing a Go Bag: Include essentials for every family member, including pets.
• Making an Action Plan: Identify two exits from your home and a family meeting spot.
• Following First Responder Directions: Trust real-time alerts and law enforcement directions, even if instructions feel counterintuitive.

“Preparedness is a community value,” said North County Fire Authority Chief Ron Myers. “When one household takes action, it strengthens the resilience of an entire neighborhood. Together, we can make Brisbane, Daly City, and Pacifica safer, stronger, and ready for the unexpected.”
